Accommodation
For the five nights of our stay, we’ll make ourselves at home in a beautifully restored 400-year-old Cotswold house, set in the heart of a pretty village with direct rail links to London Paddington and Oxford.
The house is light, spacious, and thoughtfully laid out, with a mix of inviting indoor rooms and peaceful outdoor spaces where you can relax, read, or simply enjoy the slower rhythm of village life. It has been professionally interior designed throughout and features a lovely private garden just for us.
Although the house can accommodate up to twelve guests, we will enjoy it exclusively with just six of us, allowing the space to feel calm, unrushed, and indulgently comfortable.
Every bedroom is comfortable, quietly elegant, and designed to feel like a true retreat at the end of the day.
Dining & Daily Comforts
Food and drink are an easy, enjoyable part of the week — thoughtfully planned, relaxed, and never rushed.
Your stay includes six breakfasts, one traditional afternoon tea, and six main meals, taken either at lunch or dinner depending on the day’s plans. Meals are chosen to complement each day’s rhythm, whether that’s a long, leisurely lunch or a relaxed evening out.
Back at the house, water, soft drinks, fruit, snacks, and freshly baked treats are available every day for you to help yourself to whenever you wish.
Each evening, we’ll begin with a pre-dinner drink at home before heading out — a glass of champagne, a Cotswold gin & tonic, a mocktail, or a soft drink, according to your preference.
Any dietary requirements are happily catered for — simply let me know your needs at the time of booking.
Activities & Experiences
I have curated a week designed to feel indulgent, varied, and deeply relaxing — a true escape into the very best of the Cotswolds. Everything below is included in the price of your stay.
During the week, experiences may include:
-
Visits to Hidcote Manor Garden and Kiftsgate Court Gardens, two of the Cotswolds’ most beautiful and celebrated gardens
-
Time spent exploring iconic Cotswold villages and lesser-known towns, from much-loved favourites to places quietly cherished by locals
-
Visits to high-end Cotswold boutiques and fascinating antique shops, where an extra suitcase may come in handy
-
Excellent dinners in carefully chosen country pubs
-
An indulgent lunch at Restoration Hardware’s extraordinary country mansion at Aynho
-
Gentle countryside walks, which I lead at a pace that suits the group
-
An evening at the wonderfully eccentric Giffords Circus, a joyful and distinctly British experience featuring talented human performers and a few well-behaved dogs
-
A private castle tour, offering a glimpse into England’s layered history
-
One quieter day at home, with an optional morning visit to Oxford, which is self-guided, with a thoughtfully planned route that I will provide
-
A few unexpected treats and surprises, arranged through my local connections in the Cotswolds
I keep the balance of the week intentionally unhurried, with time to enjoy being out and about as well as moments to relax, recharge, and simply enjoy where you are.
Relaxation & Unhurried Time
During the week, I set aside a quieter day to allow time to slow down and to enjoy simply being at home in our beautiful surroundings.
Our village is ideal for this gentler pace. There are lovely countryside walks directly from the door, a welcoming village deli and café, and two beautiful pubs with gardens. For those who wish, there is also the option to book a spa treatment locally, or to take the train into Oxford to explore independently at your own pace.
I will make sure there are plenty of delicious foodie treats waiting at home, along with walking route maps should you wish to head out on your own. More often than not, I am very happy to lead the way myself.
Evenings are intentionally relaxed. After dinner, most nights are yours to enjoy however you wish, although I do have a few special, quintessentially English treats planned across the week for those who would like to join in.
Physical Comfort & Pace
A moderate level of physical fitness is all that is needed to enjoy the week, and everything is planned at a relaxed, unhurried pace.
Our days often include walking through villages, gardens, and scenic spots, so comfortable walking shoes are essential. You may be on your feet for several hours at a time, with plenty of opportunities to pause for rest, tea, and cake along the way.
Some areas have uneven ground, cobbled streets, gentle slopes, or garden paths, but nothing is strenuous. I keep the pace leisurely and flexible, and there is always time to stop, sit, or opt out if you wish.
There will be opportunities for countryside walks of up to around ninety minutes at a moderate pace. These are entirely optional, and I am always happy to adjust plans to suit the group.
Our vehicle does require a step up to get in and a step down to get out, so guests should feel comfortable doing this regularly. Bedrooms are located on the first or second floors, accessed by one or two flights of stairs.
On some evenings, we may choose to dress up a little for dinner. If you enjoy that, you may wish to bring a pair of heels, although this is entirely optional and comfort always comes first.
If you have any questions about suitability, I am very happy to talk things through with you before booking.
